ADR Caravan Strengthens Community Awareness and Trust in Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the European Union (EU), conducted an ADR Caravan awareness campaign in Rutsiro on 21 April 2026 and in Nyagatare on 23 April 2026. The initiative brought Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services closer to communities through drama performances that allowed people to participate and better understand how disputes can be resolved peacefully.

The performances portrayed familiar situations that many people encounter in their daily lives, making it easier for audiences to relate to the messages and understand how ADR can help resolve conflicts before they escalate.

As the actors brought real-life dispute scenarios to life, the audience actively participated, responding to questions, sharing opinions, and reflecting on the different ways conflicts can be addressed through dialogue and mutual understanding. The interactive nature of the performances transformed the events into learning experiences that were both informative and entertaining.

Beyond the stage, community members had the opportunity to engage directly with ADR service providers. The discussions allowed participants to ask questions, clarify concerns, and learn more about the services available to help them resolve disputes without going through lengthy court processes.

The events also brought together local authorities, civil society organizations, and community-based organizations, whose combined efforts helped ensure that the messages reached a wide audience.
