Ministry of Justice Organises Parliamentary Seminar on Human Rights
On 10 October 2025, at the Parliament Building in Kigali, the Ministry of Justice organised a seminar on strengthening the oversight role of Parliament for human rights, democracy, and inclusive development, bringing together Members of Parliament, the UN, and partners.
In his opening remarks, Permanent Secretary / Solicitor General, Mr. Mbonera Théophile emphasized that “respect for human rights is not an abstract principle but the foundation of peace, stability, and sustainable development.”
The seminar highlighted the importance of legislation, oversight, and collaboration in promoting equality, justice, and social cohesion. Participants also discussed emerging areas such as digital rights, environmental justice, and equitable access to technology.
The Ministry of Justice reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Parliament, civil society, and partners to strengthen Rwanda’s human rights framework and ensure inclusive, rights-respecting development for all.
